The Power of Influence - A Course In Mastery Day 11

Influence is communicating with people so that they take action. Great influences use a six step process to ensure influence:
1. Build Rapport Build trust consciously and unconsciously
2. Discover and Listen Ask questions. Know where they arecoming from.
3. Expose the Problem Find out the need that will motivate action.
4. Expose the Solution Explain the solution and show why it is easy and can be done by them.
5. Use Emotion Facts tell - Stories sell.
6. Ask You must have the confidence to ask without a care as to the result.

Begin today by planning how you will influence a person. Make this exercise a daily practice!
To that end tom wood reccommends Influence: Science and Practice (5th Edition).

Jim Stovall was told he would be totally blind before entering college and chose to help a disabled 4 year old boy who he was told would never amount to anything. When lsoing his own sight it was Christopher who taught him never to quit and whose seven year life would motivate Jim Stovall to help millions.
"No matter what the dream is inside of you is the answer is always 'Yes you can!' because that big dream would not have been put inside of you if you did not have the capacity to achieve it."
Christopher taught Jim Stovall that there is no such thing as an insignificant person, an insignificant relationship or an insignificant moment. Everything offers us the chance to evalaute our life, to choose, and to make quality decisions.

'Mediocrity is the most selfish pursuit anyone can do.'
